My
name is Clark Rafford and I have been principal of Hodgdon High School
for the past five years. I have been employed in the school district for
a total of nine years in the capacities of assistant principal, athletic
director and principal.
I am a native of Aroostook County and I
graduated from Ashland High School. I attended college at the University
of Maine at Fort Kent where I received my Bachelor's of Science in Education.
I then joined the Air Force where I spent the next fourteen years on active
duty. I received my master's degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle
Aeronautical University. Upon leaving active duty I returned to the education
field and taught at my alma mater as the Alternative Education teacher.
I spent nine years in the Army National Guard and retired with a total
of 23 years in the military. I received my Certificate of Advanced
Graduate Study in Educational Administration from the University of New
England.
I am excited about having the opportunity
to work here with your students and being an active part of the educational
programming we offer them. Our staff, students, community and extended
community offer our students a very caring educational setting in which
all students can learn. They need only actively embrace what they are offered.
We provide our students with a solid academic
foundation which prepares them to embark upon whatever path they choose
to pursue after high school. Whether it is the world of work, a post-secondary
endeavor or a stint in our military, they are given the opportunities to
succeed. We have many chances for students to engage in programs beyond
the regular academic day and I highly encourage our students to participate
in those enriching opportunities.
We have an after-school program four days
a week for students who wish to attend and hone their academic skills.
That program runs Monday through Thursday from 2:30 to 4:00 as long as
students are in attendance. Those who have actively engaged in this program
have experienced academic growth.
I encourage you to stop in and visit our
school and see what we have done to improve the physical plant and maybe
say hello to some of our students and staff. If you would like to visit
our school, please contact my office @ 532-2413.
