A Message From the Principal

It is my great pleasure to welcome you  to Hodgdon Middle/High School, a place where   quality teachers, para- professional staff, administration and guidance support  every student through a team approach. Our collective purpose is in serving our students to the highest possible degree.  That purpose and teamwork is formidal. The quality of instruction and attention to each individual’s need provides for student-centered, reality based skill development in all of our offered opportunities.

In addition to traditional class offerings, there are a plethora of  other academic opportunities for students to broaden their skills and explore their interests. Eligible students as early on in their high school career as sophomores are able to earn dual credits through the high school and the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Students who successfully complete AP US History will receive three college credits each for HTY 161 and HTY 162; in English Literature/Comp three credits each for ENG 101 and ENG 151; in Anatomy and Physiology four credits each for BIO 261 and BIO 262; in  AP Chemistry four credits each for CHY 111 and CHY 122, and in AP Biology they will receive four credits for BIO 112. Eligible students are allowed to participate in Maine's Aspirations for Early College Program thus having six credits per semester paid for by the State of Maine. Hodgdon students regularly take advantage of this program through UMPI, UMFK, UMM, UMA, Husson or NMCC. Additionally, Hodgdon Middle High School has currently secured a Gear-Up Grant which pays for the books and fees for these successfully completed courses.

Hodgdon Middle High School’s GEAR-UP grant  (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs)  as well as the MSAD # 70 After School Program afford all students opportunities to visit colleges, be privy to specialists coming in to speak to them and to have access to after-school help and activities, such as:  coding, cooking, nutrition, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, rock wall climbing, hunter safety, and woodworking. These programs insure that all students have access to activities and knowledge that will better prepare them for their life beyond Hodgdon Middle / High School.

Hodgdon Middle/High School offers students in good academic standing the opportunity to participate in a variety of varsity, junior varsity, and inter-league sports including golf, soccer, football, basketball, ice hockey, cheering, volleyball, cross country running, baseball, and softball. Additional clubs are formed each year based on student interests and have included chess, FFA, Envirothon, and rock wall climbing. Opportunities are also available for students to participate in the Civil Rights Team, National Honor Society, Wellness Team, and student government activities.

I invite you to stop in to visit or  view Hodgdon Middle High School and to meet our staff at any time. Please call 532-2413 to set up an appointment.

“Make it a great day” that choice is always yours.

Best to you,
