A Message from the Principal

The dedicated and caring staff at the Mill Pond School is prepared to offer students an excellent educational experience. We look forward to working together with students and their families in the pursuit of reaching the academic and social potential of every child. You will find the Mill Pond School is well maintained and kept very clean by our excellent custodial staff. Our goal is to provide all students with a safe, healthy, and enjoyable learning environment that will help build the foundation necessary to be successful throughout their future educational journeys.

The Mill Pond School’s academic program is challenging and rigorous. In addition to the strong emphasis on Language Arts and Mathematics, we provide students instruction in Science, Social Studies, Art, Band, Chorus, Computer Coding, Health, Library Skills, and Physical Education.

Our special services programming is comprehensive in nature, as every child is carefully evaluated to ensure appropriate educational strategies are effectively employed in the least restricted environment.

If students are ready for an above grade level academic challenge, then we can accelerate their learning by placing them in a more advanced Language Arts or Mathematics class. In addition, we furnish a State of Maine certified Gifted and Talented program for students who qualify.

The Mill Pond School offers free breakfast and lunch to all students. Our excellent food service staff create healthy, nutritious, and great tasting meals. We also provide this service throughout summer school for K-12 students in M.S.A.D. #70.

Our innovative After-School Program is very popular with Mill Pond School students. Monday through Thursday afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30, between 40 and 50 K-6 students regularly attend. Each child receives a free snack, participates in a structured and well-supervised homework period, and concludes the day with a fun activity. After-School Program students enjoy many exciting field trips including a wonderful downhill ski program at Big Rock Mountain in Mars Hill.

Please stop by anytime if you would like a tour of our fabulous school.
